History
Created in 1929, the ‘Newman Club’ on both the women’s and men’s campuses celebrated and strengthened Catholic life for many students and would give rise to the present day Newman Community parish in 1963. From these humble beginnings, Catholic life has flourished on campus for over 80 years. Catholics are currently the largest single faith denomination on campus (estimated to be over 30% of current students), and Newman has over 7500 Alumni who have benefited from their Newman experience. At our community, we strive to find the balanced intersection of faith and reason necessary for an authentic human life. We are glad to welcome you into our family!
Today, Newman is proud to be active on all the campuses of the University including the Eastman School of Music, Medical Center, Simon School, Warner School, and the College. Our programs and activities are open to all, and our staff is always available to you. We look forward to getting to know you and welcoming you into the NEWMAN EXPERIENCE!!
