Director of Catholic Newman Community Pastoral Care

Fr. Cool has served at Rochester since 1999 and currently chairs the Diocese of Rochester’s Public Policy Committee and serves on the New York State Bishop’s Public Policy Committee. An avid Syracuse University sports fan, Fr. Cool is a high school and collegiate lacrosse referee. He has degrees from Nazareth College, St. Mary’s Seminary and the University of Rochester.

Nathan Drahms '07
Campus Minister

The third in his family to graduate from Rochester, he studied Catholicism as a Take Five Scholar when he wrote the Imago Dei Retreat. He was active in ResLife, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Colleges Against Cancer. After graduation, Nathan volunteered for a year through FrancisCorps. Currently, Nathan is pursuing a Master of Divinity.

Sr. Jackie Reichart, RSM
Campus Minister

A Sister of Mercy for over 50 years, Sr. Jackie brings experience in education and parish ministry to her work. She engages students through our RCIA and faith formation programs. She holds degrees from Nazareth College and SUNY Brockport and did post graduate studies at Western Illinois, the University of Windsor and John Carroll University. Currently, Sr. Jackie serves on the Diocesan Gay and Lesbian Family Ministry Committee.

Dcn. Craig Stratton
Medical Center Outreach
A graduate of St. Bernard's School of Theology and Ministry, Craig was ordained in 2009. Joining Craig in his ministry is his wife Shirley of almost 40 years. They have one son who is a ESM Graduate and musician living in Dallas, TX. Craig is a retired educator and holds a Doctorate in Education from the University at Buffalo. Assigned to the Newman Community, Craig provides pastoral care for patients at the UR Medical Center and outreach to graduate and medical students. Craig is a trained Chaplain and enjoys part time employment at the hospital. In his spare time, he enjoys boating, hiking, and time spent at the family cottage.

Karen Anvelt
Admimistrator

After thirteen years as administrative assistant to the Dean of the Medical Center, Karen began work at Newman in 2000. A very talented administrator, her responsibilities include managing our budget, annual appeals, database and student workers. Karen and her husband live in Pittsford where they have raised three wonderful children, one who now attends St. Bonaventure University.
