Vocation Awareness Sunday

Often times when we hear the word "vocation," we immediately think of vocation to the priesthood or other religious life.  Indeed, this is one vocation to which we may be called.  However, not all are called to a life as a priest or as a member of a religious order: we are called to be doctors, lawyers, teachers, and lay ministers; we are called to be married and single; we are called to fulfill the gifts and talents with which we have been endowed and to use these gifts to serve God and one another.

Each February, the Newman Community sponsors Vocation Awareness Sunday.  On this Sunday, members of different religious orders come to campus and are available to talk with people after mass.  They may invite you to consider whether your vocation is to relious life, and they also offer information about programs that offer lay persons the opportunity to become involved in a long-term service program, as well as other information that may be specific to their affiliation.

Please join us for Vocation Awareness Sunday on February 20, 2005.  Consider what life God is calling you to, and while you're here, take the opportunity to meet others in the community and enjoy some of the ever-present free food.
